Practical Shooting attempts to measure the ability to shoot rapidly and accurately with a full power handgun. Those three elements – speed, accuracy, and power – form the three sides of the practical shooting triangle. By design, each match will measure a shooter’s ability in all three areas.

To do this, shooters take on obstacle-laden shooting courses (called stages) requiring anywhere from six to 30+ shots to complete. Competitors move, negotiate obstacles, run, speed-reload, and drive their guns through each of several courses as fast as their skills will allow.

The scoring system takes the points fired and divides it by the time it took to shoot the course. This gives you the “Hit Factor” which is then ranked against other competitors to determine final standings.

All our matches are held outdoors, in all weather, except thunderstorms.

Matches for Eastern Shore Practical Shooters run on the 4th Saturday each month from February thru October. Signup is now done online through our Facebook page.
Shooting starts at approximately 9:45 AM.

Early setup takes place on Friday provided no one is using the ranges. Folks who come out Friday for early setup shoot for free. Final setup starts Saturday at 8 AM. Shooters who arrive at 8 AM for final setup will get $5 off their entry fee.
